Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Baba, has made a stunning revelation about the end of his 12-year marriage to Annie Macaulay. On January 26, 2025, 2Baba shared the news with his followers on Instagram, announcing that he and Annie have been separated for some time and are now in the process of finalizing their divorce.
He stated, “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long… Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while now, and we’ve currently filed for divorce.”
The musician went on to explain that he would soon release a formal statement to clarify his side of the story, emphasizing that it wasn’t to satisfy anyone’s curiosity but to clear the air about his actions.
“I will grant a press release soon to share my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all,” he added.
The pair’s marriage has been under the spotlight for some time, largely due to ongoing rumors about 2Baba’s infidelity. Annie has previously spoken about the challenges in their relationship, revealing that while 2Baba had fathered children with other women, he remained a constant presence in her life.
In an emotional moment on the Netflix series Young, Famous and African, Annie recalled that she met 2Baba when she was a teenager and described him as the only man she’s ever been with. Yet, despite their union, 2Baba’s relationships with other women, including Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajaba, continued, leading to further complications in their marriage.
In addition to their two daughters, Isabel and Olivia, 2Baba has three children with Pero, and two others with Sumbo. Annie revealed the emotional toll this took, sharing how she discovered that 2Baba was still involved with his former partners, which affected her mental well-being.
Despite enduring these hardships, Annie faced public mockery, with many criticizing her decision to stay in a marriage they viewed as damaging. 2Baba also sparked controversy with his candid remarks about male behavior, stating, “Like it or not, men are wired like that. A man will love a woman to hell. But maybe he is somewhere, he would just decide to sleep with someone.”
In 2022, Annie decided to renew their vows, but just two years later, the couple has decided to part ways.
