Ghana decides: Former Aide Accuses Dr. Bawumia of Weakness and Dishonesty

Rosemond Obeng, the former personal assistant to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has harshly criticized the Vice President’s leadership abilities. In an interview on Accra-based GhOne TV, Obeng claimed that Dr. Bawumia lacks assertiveness and problem-solving skills, rendering him unqualified to lead Ghana as its next president. She argued that Bawumia cannot effectively manage even a small team of 10 people, let alone a nation of over 32 million citizens.She stated:“With his approach to solving problems, inability to assert himself when necessary, and failure to take charge and correct people when they misbehave, he cannot even manage a small group of 10 people, let alone lead an entire country.”She expressed her concern about the possibility of Dr. Bawumia leading Ghana, asserting that he would be overwhelmed by the task and that the country would not be safe under his leadership.She further criticized the Vice President as a “bad and dishonest leader,” particularly pointing to his role as head of the Economic Management Team.Obeng blamed him for Ghana’s economic struggles, including the depreciation of the cedis against the US dollar.

She added:

“He’s not a consistent leader. It’s sad. His performance on the economy has been disastrous, and Ghanaians are judging him based on that. The reality is that he’s not the right person for this country.”

Rosemond also urged Ghanaians to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, as the country’s next leader.

Her comments come shortly after former President John Agyekum Kufuor endorsed Dr. Bawumia as the most qualified candidate to lead Ghana into the future. Meanwhile, over 18 million Ghanaians are set to cast their votes on Saturday, 7 December 2024.
