Ghanaian actress and fashion icon Zynnell Zuh has fiercely rebutted the stereotype that people in the entertainment industry are intellectually lacking.
In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz, Zynnell expressed her discontent with the widespread belief that entertainers fall short in other aspects of life, such as education and intellectual pursuits.
“The stereotype that people in showbiz aren’t intelligent is something I strongly disagree with. Balancing creativity, business, and strategy requires a high level of intelligence and versatility,” she remarked.
She further explained, “Many creatives are well educated and use their platforms to positively impact society. It’s important to challenge this misconception and celebrate the diverse talents within the industry.”
Zynnell, who holds a BA in Geography and Information Studies from the University of Ghana, an LLB from Mountcrest University College, and a Master of Laws (LLM) from BPP University in the UK, emphasized that her academic journey empowers her to produce more insightful content, including thought-provoking films, empowering fashion, and impactful charity work.
Her sentiments echo those of fellow actor John Dumelo, who has also critiqued the idea that entertainers should avoid political involvement. Dumelo, the newly elected Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, has argued that one’s career should not limit their capacity to serve the public.
