Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoakohas found himself in the spotlight due to legal troubles involving his teenage son.
The 16-year-old has been sentenced to six months at a senior correctional centre after pleading guilty to eight charges, including two counts of manslaughter. The charges stem from a fatal road crash in East Legon that claimed the lives of two young children.
Before his sentencing, the teenager had been held at the Osu Correctional Centre while legal proceedings were ongoing. According to the police, the incident occurred as he showcased the speed of his parents’ Jaguar F-Pace Sport, which led to a collision with a black Acura carrying the victims.
Reports revealed that the boy had driven the Jaguar to A&C Mall with a friend, where they joined others in two SUVs. Together, they formed a convoy with the accused leading in his mother’s car through the East Legon area.
Initially, he denied all charges when brought before the Family and Juvenile Court, but the court remanded him, emphasizing the need for proper care and strict conditions during his custody.
Additionally, Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha Amoako, and a sales assistant named Linda Bonsu Prempeh were arrested after the crash. They were accused of permitting an unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle.
The Accra Circuit Court granted bail to the Bishop and his wife at GH¢50,000 each with two sureties, while Linda Bonsu Prempeh received the same bail terms. She is alleged to have provided the key to the vehicle involved in the tragic accident. All three have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
