President John Mahama has pledged to prioritize the completion of uncompleted healthcare facilities across the country to enhance access and elevate the standard of medical services.
Addressing the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Winneba on Thursday, January 9, the newly sworn-in president emphasized his administration’s focus on advancing healthcare infrastructure. “We shall continue abandoned health projects and operationalize them as key steps towards expanding healthcare access nationwide,” he affirmed.
President Mahama also reassured Ghanaians of his dedication to strengthening the health sector. “We will prioritize investment in infrastructure and human resources to ensure accessible, quality medical care,” he stated.
This commitment aligns with his campaign promises to revive stalled projects, including the ambitious Agenda 111 initiative started by the previous administration. The project, which seeks to construct 111 hospitals and three psychiatric facilities, aims to bridge healthcare gaps, especially in underserved districts. Currently, only three of these hospitals have been completed but remain non-operational, leaving much work for the new government to undertake.
