The 2024 National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, Ebi Bright has taken legal action at the Supreme Court, contesting the declaration of Charles Forson, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, as the constituency’s elected Member of Parliament.
Per a report by Myjoyonline.com, Ebi Bright claims that irregularities marred the election process, casting doubt on the legitimacy of Forson’s win. She maintains that the Electoral Commission’s (EC) announcement of Forson as the victor was erroneous and is disputing the final results.
The petitioner argues that NPP polling agents interfered during the collation of results at the Chemu SHS collation center. She believes this interference compromised the transparency of the process, impacting the integrity of the declared results.
Ebi Bright further contends that the circumstances surrounding the EC’s declaration of Forson as the MP-elect violate constitutional provisions and electoral regulations.
As part of her demands, she is requesting the Supreme Court to annul the Tema Central election results. Additionally, she is seeking an order for a re-run of the parliamentary election in the constituency.
The Supreme Court is set to deliberate on the matter in the coming weeks.
