The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako-Mensah, has criticized the appointments of Professors Kobby Mensah and Ransford Gyampo by President John Dramani Mahama. The two academics have been named as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, respectively.
Reacting to the news, Adomako-Mensah took to Facebook on Thursday, January 30, 2025, to express his views on the state of Ghana’s political scene. He accused some individuals of hypocrisy, suggesting that their past criticisms of the previous Akufo-Addo administration were self-serving rather than purely objective.
To support his stance, the MP shared an old post by Prof. Kobby Mensah in which the political marketing expert dismissed claims that he had been critical of the former government in a bid to secure a political role. In the post, Prof. Mensah clarified that his critiques were part of his professional duty as a political marketing expert and not an attempt to gain favor.
According to him, political marketing specialists analyze, strategize, and critique the actions of both politicians and voters, making it an essential aspect of their work.
However, Adomako-Mensah saw the situation differently. He implied that the appointments of Prof. Mensah and Prof. Gyampo were rewards for their vocal opposition to the previous administration. With a hint of sarcasm, he congratulated them while urging them to put national interest first.
“Ransford Gyampo and Kobby Mensah, congratulations to both of you. Go serve Ghana. This game called politics. I learn something every day. Key word ‘Interest nkoaaaaa’,” he wrote.
