At the 67th Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 2, Asake shared his thoughts on personal expression while speaking with Billboard on the red carpet. The 30-year-old artist emphasized the importance of feeling at ease with himself.
“This is how I feel now. I love to feel comfortable in myself, in the things that I feel is good for me, not even about anybody,” he stated.
He also hinted at the possibility of change, adding, “I might wake up tomorrow and you guys may not see any tattoo on my face.”
The event, held in Los Angeles, marked Asake’s first Grammy appearance. He was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category, but the award ultimately went to his fellow Nigerian artist, Tems, for her song Love Me Jeje.
