A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, Kofi Tonto, has urged Chief Executive Officers appointed under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to step down, allowing President John Dramani Mahama to appoint individuals who align with his vision.
“You cannot campaign against the vision and ideas of Mahama and expect to be maintained as a CEO. Step down for those who believe in his ideas and vision. It’s that simple!” he stated in a Facebook post.
His remarks come amid growing tensions at SIC Insurance PLC, where former Managing Director (MD) Hollistar Duah-Yentumi has taken legal action against the company and her successor, James Agyenim-Boateng. Reports indicate she has locked the MD’s office and withheld the keys, preventing Agyenim-Boateng from assuming his new position.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on February 5, Agyenim-Boateng disclosed the challenges he faced upon arriving at the SIC headquarters, revealing that Duah-Yentumi refused to attend a scheduled meeting with management. Additionally, she has not submitted her handover notes, raising concerns among staff.
“It has become apparent that the real difficulty regarding why I have not been able to access the office is because my predecessor has actually locked up the office and bolted with the keys. It is strange,” he remarked.
With the leadership impasse escalating, Duah-Yentumi has filed an interlocutory injunction at the High Court, seeking to bar Agyenim-Boateng from assuming the role. Her legal counsel, E.N. Poku Esq, is requesting an order preventing SIC Insurance from recognizing him as MD.
