Archbishop Duncan Williams, a prominent Ghanaian cleric, has earned his inaugural nomination at the Ghana Movie Awards. He has been nominated in the Cameo Actor category, just ahead of the prestigious event slated for December 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The Ghana Movie Awards, a significant occasion in the country’s film industry, honours outstanding achievements in filmmaking and will feature a range of talented nominees from across the industry. Categories for recognition include Achievement in Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Costume and Wardrobe, Production Design, and Sound Mixing and Editing, among others. Also included are awards for Writing (Original or Adapted Screenplay), Best Short Movies, Best Documentary, Best Movie African Collaboration, and Best Picture.
The competition is fierce in the major acting categories. Kwadwo Nkansah, Lilwin, James Gardiner, Adjetey Anang, Anthony Woode, and Jeffery Nortey are in the running for Actor in a Leading Role, while Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, Bless Fortune, Nana Ama McBrown, Emelia Brobbey, and Habiba Sinare are nominated for Actress in a Leading Role.
In the supporting categories, John Dumelo, Kofi Adjorlolor, Van Vicker, Majid Michel, and Clement Bonney (Mr. Beautiful) are vying for Actor in a Supporting Role, with Sonia Ibrahim, Roselyn Ngissah, Sandra Ababio, Christabel Ekeh, Tracy Boakye, Kalsoume Sinare, Maame Ofosuah Anim, Sika Dzuali, and Chichi Neblett nominated for Actress in a Supporting Role.
The Discovery of the Year category features rising talents such as Rosemond Brown (Akuapim Poloo), Frank Ntiamoah, Mawena Azumah, Martina Dwamena (Asantewaa), Sherita Adu, Quesh, and Augustina Aboabo.
Phred Nuamah, the CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards, emphasized that this year’s ceremony promises to be a night to remember. “We’re pulling out all the stops to make this year’s Ghana Movie Awards an extraordinary celebration of Ghanaian cinema. The dress code is strictly formal, that is tuxedos and Kente for men and evening gowns for ladies,” he stated.
The Ghana Movie Awards, which was founded in 2010, is set to host its 14th edition this December, continuing its tradition of celebrating excellence in the film industry.
