Rev. Patricia Asiedua, widely recognized as Nana Agradaa, has taken a strong stance against gospel musician Empress Gifty following her public celebration of the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama after the 2024 election results.
Empress Gifty, known for her connection to the NPP through her husband, who once served as a Deputy National Security Coordinator, recently made headlines by showcasing her joy over the NDC’s victory. Donning the party’s colors and sharing her excitement on social media, she revealed how her husband’s support for Alan Kyerematen led to his dismissal from both his role and the party, reflecting on the challenges they faced under the previous administration.
However, Nana Agradaa criticized Gifty’s newfound support for Mahama, accusing her of hypocrisy and questioning her sincerity. In an impassioned response, Agradaa remarked, “Now that Mahama has won, you’re on social media with your messy hair, saying things that don’t add up. You and your husband spent years disrespecting and ridiculing him. It’s hypocritical to now act as though you’ve always been in his corner. Let’s not forget the comments you made about him not long ago.”
She went on to label Gifty’s actions as opportunistic, expressing her disdain for the sudden shift in allegiance. “If you and your husband want to take refuge in the NDC after being sidelined by the NPP, that’s your choice. But don’t act like you’ve been a loyal supporter of John Mahama all along. It’s insulting to those of us who genuinely stood by him through thick and thin. JM could have completed eight years already if not for the harm caused by people like you,” she added.
Agradaa also referenced the imprisonment of Gifty’s husband, attributing it to his conduct towards the previous government. She suggested that their current situation has driven them to seek acceptance within the NDC, but cautioned Gifty against overplaying her newfound enthusiasm.
She concluded with a scathing remark: “Where were you when we endured the collapse of our businesses for standing with Mahama? You mocked us back then. True loyalty doesn’t start after a victory. Some of you need to stay in your lane and stop pretending to love JM more than those of us who paid the price for our support.”
