The Energy Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has paid a working visit to the Tema Harbour to assess the condition of around 2,500 containers acquired by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) that remain unclaimed at the port.
The inspection highlights the Minister’s commitment to tackling inefficiencies in the energy sector and ensuring a more effective use of national resources.
The containers, which hold essential materials procured during the previous administration, have incurred demurrage charges totaling a staggering GHS 1.5 billion.
This development has brought to light serious shortcomings in resource management and collaboration between agencies, placing a heavy financial strain on the state.
