Special Aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari has emphasized her confidence in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to meet the high expectations of Ghanaians. Speaking to Channel 1 Television during the ongoing inauguration proceedings, she expressed her belief in the capabilities of Mahama’s team and their readiness to address the nation’s pressing challenges.
Reflecting on the first batch of presidential appointments announced by the President-elect, Mogtari noted that these selections illustrate Mahama’s strategic approach to governance. Among the appointees are key figures such as the former Attorney General, who will serve as legal advisor, Julius Debrah as Chief of Staff, Dr. Callistus Mahama as Executive Secretary, and an Acting Spokesperson—all of whom she described as an excellent team.
“I feel humbled, and I thank the good Lord. I think that this is the day the Lord has made, and we are rejoicing in it. The expectations are very high, and I am confident in my heart that they will be met,” she remarked.
Mogtari further highlighted her satisfaction with stepping aside to allow other talents within the NDC to assume leadership roles. “You can’t always be on the first list. Look, the beauty about the NDC is that there are just so many people, so much talent, a large pool. Think about it: I’ve been spokesperson, special aide for almost ten years. I think that others should also take the lead,” she stated.
Despite her readiness to take a back seat, she pledged her unwavering support for John Mahama and his administration. “Even if I don’t take up a formal position, I will serve John Mahama. I think it is an honour to hand over to such an amazing team,” she concluded, expressing pride in the party’s vision and leadership.
