Leading member of Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has claimed that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government would require significant rigging to influence the outcome of Ghana’s 2024 elections.
According to Barker-Vormawor, the political climate favors the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with Ghanaians increasingly yearning for change and improved governance. He expressed his views in a Twitter post, stating:
“It will take a miracle & a huge amount of rigging for the Government to win this elections. The wind of change is clear!
Barker-Vormawor further cautioned the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) against any attempts to manipulate the electoral process, warning of potential repercussions from the youth.
“And if the EC dares announce a Gov’t win, they will then understand the anger of the Ghanaian youth!
“We will take the Republic by force! Abufusem. #TimesUp.”
The stage is set for Ghana’s crucial nationwide presidential and parliamentary elections, scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024.
A total of 18,774,159 valid voters are expected to cast their ballots at more than 40,000 polling stations across the country to elect a President and 276 Members of Parliament.
To win the presidency, a candidate must secure at least 50 percent plus one of the total valid votes casts.
In the parliamentary race, a candidate needs to secure a simple majority of the valid votes to emerge victorious.
Twelve presidential candidates are vying for the nation’s top office after months of campaigning across the country to share their messages and policies with voters.
