The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is reportedly set to part ways with Black Stars assistant coaches John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann.
This decision is part of a broader plan to restructure the team’s technical bench by recruiting highly skilled professionals as Ghana prepares for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Reports suggest the GFA is in talks with a Belgian and a Serbian coach to step into the assistant coaching roles.
Meanwhile, the position of head coach Otto Addo remains uncertain, as the association focuses on assembling a strong technical team to enhance the Black Stars’ performance.
This overhaul follows the team’s disappointing failure to secure a spot in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. The technical staff, led by Addo, has been heavily criticized by fans and pundits for underwhelming results in the qualifiers.
Despite the setbacks, the Black Stars currently sit joint top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers, accumulating nine points from four matches. Their campaign continues in March 2025, with games against Chad at home and Madagascar away.
