Ghanaian optometrist and comedian OB Amponsah achieved a groundbreaking milestone in the comedy industry on December 21, 2024, by hosting his 10th-anniversary comedy show at the 4,000-seat Bukom Boxing Arena, marking the first time a Ghanaian comedian has successfully filled such a large venue.
This historic feat has been hailed by industry insiders as a game-changer for Ghanaian comedy, symbolizing the genre’s growing influence and potential. Reflecting on the achievement, OB Amponsah noted that, “After filling smaller spaces over the years, I was convinced that taking up the challenge of holding my 10th anniversary at a much bigger place would elevate the Ghanaian comedy narrative we have been championing for the past years.”
The comedian delivered a masterclass in stand-up, expertly blending humor with relatable and daring topics. His jokes ranged from politics and relationships to taboo subjects, showcasing his trademark audacity in addressing themes many shy away from.
