Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana delivered a standout performance for Southampton in their Premier League clash against Manchester United on Thursday, January 17, 2025. Despite his efforts, Sulemana was unable to find the back of the net, narrowly missing several opportunities that could have resulted in a hat-trick.
Sulemana proved a constant threat, repeatedly outpacing United’s French defender Lenny Yoro and showcasing his skill and agility. His display drew praise from Manchester United coach Reuben Amorim, who acknowledged the difficulty his team faced in containing the talented winger.
“A very difficult game. They did a very good job, Southampton, creating spaces between the lines. Their number 20 [Sulemana] had a lot of space behind, and we had a hard time stopping that player,” Amorim admitted during his post-match comments.
Despite Sulemana’s brilliance, it was Ivorian winger Amad Diallo who stole the spotlight. With Manchester United trailing, Diallo stepped up to cancel out an own goal by Ugarte before netting twice in the dying minutes to seal a dramatic 3-1 comeback victory for his side.
The result saw Manchester United rise to 12th in the Premier League standings, amassing 26 points from 21 games. Southampton, however, remain rooted at the bottom of the table with just six points from their 21 outings.
